In 2009 22 situations of people having serious problems were solved.

 

We did prevention campaigns with which we try to prevent that people need a 2ndChance. In 2009 we thus sent 95.215 copies of a book in which we try to learn people to deal better with problems in their lives, to find more happiness and not to get into troubles.

These are a few examples of the people we managed to help:

ML, 63 years

At the age of 30, ML was hit by a car. The driver went on without even stopping. We are talking 1977, no less than 32 years ago. That’s how long she has been suffering. After 14 weeks in a coma, numerous operations and years of convalescence, ML was dismissed from hospital. She wasn’t capable of seeing, talking, walking anymore…

Very slowly, ML gradually recovered. She managed to walk and talk again. Now, at the age of 63, she is considered “too old” for being offered the help she needs to live independently as a blind person.

2ndChance Foundation said this situation was unacceptable, and did something about it, because life isn’t quite over yet at 63.  2ndChance Foundation brought the good news, that she will receive the support that will make her independent and happy again after 32 years of misery! Light at the end of the tunnel again, wouldn’t that be wonderful, a true miracle?

 

A.K., 22 years.

Due to her disease, she has not yet been able to work and receives only a tiny allowance. Her parents are divorced. Her father is chronically sick and has an alcohol problem. Her brother and sister used their savings to pay her invoices and this causes tension in the family. She never even received a “First chance”, but she now got a 2ndChance!
C.R., 56 years

This patient is suffering from lung cancer and her husband is contaminated with the HIV virus. They both have huge medical expenses. Only 1 income for 2 people, an amount of 1.380 euro (pre-pension) of which they have to pay the rent of their house (675euro) and also all the additional expenses due to their diseases. We managed to help them out of their problems.

2011 activities
We count on an increasing amount of income for 2011 and we are sure that we will be able to help more people than we did in 2010. At this moment, we already solved 15 particularly painful and difficult situations.
